If you are new to article marketing you must be confused as I was a couple of years back on which article directories to submit your articles to get the maximum output. Article directories are springing up dime a dozen, thanks to free article directory scripts. But the question is which is the best, which is the most visited, which is the frequently crawled, which is the most syndicated. There are thousands of article directories on the net and is ever increasing.
So how do you get the maximum ROI on your article campaign? The answer lies in selecting the best article directories from the pack. It may take you hours and days to weed out the crappy directories and finding the best ones. I have compiled this list of 23 article directories after spending days on weeding out the less effective ones. You can make use of this list and save your precious time. I have provided a brief info on every article directory which will give you a general idea of it. This article directory list takes into account the following factors.

1. Ezine Articles PR-6
Ezinearticles is the Industry leader with more visitors and comparatively larger syndication. It accepts 2 links in the resource box and you can embed the links with keywords. If you have an article this is the first place to submit.
2. The free Library PR-7
Thefreelibrary has a faster approval rate and equally good visitor base as ezinearticles. Once the article is approved, which normally takes 24 hours the content is instantly crawled by Google. It accepts links from the body of the article upto 3 links. This is my second favorite. I have received lot of direct traffic from here.
3. Gather PR-7
Gather is basically a social networking portal where you can submit your articles. Be sure that the article have some value so that it will be discussed and commented by Gather members. Gather is readily crawled and have a good PR. If the article is sensational your traffic is guaranteed.
4.GoArticles PR-6
Another great resource for submiting articles. GoArticles have more than a million articles and probably one of the biggest and most syndicated article directory. They offer content feed and RSS feed to blogs. GoArticles accept embedded links in the body of the article and my rating for it is 4.
5. Self Growth PR-6
This is not a general article directory but an excellent resource for articles related to selfgrowth, health, spirituality and life style. They accept 3 links from the resource box and you can have it embedded from the keywords. It's a great find for health/spiritual/self improvement websites.
6. Article DashBoard PR-5
These are the people who did the good and bad to the Article Directory world. While offering a simple yet effective article directory, they gave the article directory script for free. This has had both positive and negative effects. Some of them misuse the script to make MFA (Made For Adsense) sites which has downgraded the quality of Article directories. However it is a good place to submit your article.
7. ArticleClick PR-5
A clean and neat directory which accepts links only in the resource box. ArticleClick is crawled frequently and have a good number of indexed pages at Google. Accepts article with only 400 words or more.
8. ArticleAlley PR-5
ArticleAlley is another great site which is known for the feed syndication. It has a faster approval time and it accepts embedded links from the body of the article. They offer article writing services as well. My rating is 8.
9. ArticlesBase PR-5
Another good article directory which readily approves articles and have a layout similar to ezinearticles. ArticleBase accepts links in the body of the article as well as the resource box. It accepts both embedded and raw HTML format for links.
10. Isnare PR-5
Isnare is probably the most syndicated article directory as it allows syndication to the 3 major article directory scripts. It helps create content sites for free in no time. So basically submitting in Isnare helps your article to be placed in various blogs and websites. Your article should be a minimum of 500 words to get approved at isnare.
11. Amazines PR-5
The layout looks a bit clogged but it is a very effective article directory. It allows unlimited links in the body of the article and have a good approval rate.
12. ArticleSeen PR-4
ArticleSeen have an unique design and it had been revamped lately. It has a new design and the older submissions appear to have been deleted. ArticleSeen accepts embedded links in the resource box content. My rating for articleseen is 12.
13. SearchWarp PR-4
SearchWarp is a very active article directory with current news, discussion, comments etc. It is more or less a community and they call it the "Writers Community" Certainly you need to submit your article here.
14. ArticleBlast PR-4
ArticleBlast has easy syndication features and has a good approval rate. They allow up to 3 links in the body of the article and in the resource box as well.
15. ArticlesFactory PR-4
Another frequently indexed article directory. Articlesfactory is a simple directory with ease of use navigational features. They accept links only in the resource box.
16. EasyArticles PR-4
As they say "Everyone wins because the authors get the credit and exposure they deserve for their free articles and website owners get good, legal, free website content to help generate quality traffic" this is an excellent resource for submitting and syndicating articles.
17. ArticleRich PR-4
Your article must be 300 words or more to get approved. They accept links in body, however it is limited to a maximum of 2 links. They have strict policies in approving. ArticleRich have a good number of indexed pages in google.
18. ArticlePool PR-4
A fast growing article directory. Clean layout nice navigation and good approval rate. It allows links in the body of the article. Also the offer article distribution services.
19. Free-articles-zone PR-4
Eventhough I do not like the hyphens in the domain name and the fact that they approve any article, it helps to submit here. They even provide the email of author which I think will lead to SPAM. This is one directory where you can submit any article and expect the backlinks.
20. Ezine-Writer PR-4
Ezine-Writer claims to have about 90,000 unique visitors per month which is considerable and they have a relatively simple system to submit articles. My rating is 20.
21. WisdomExtract PR-4
What to say? This is another article dashboard script article directory and they call their articles wise. It seem to have strict policies in approving articles and accept a maximum of 3 links in the resource box.
22. ArticleDepot PR-4
ArticleDepot is another good article syndication directory and has more than 100,000 articles. They allow links from the resource box.
23. Article-Idea PR-4
At ArticlePort you are required to submit an article for review initially. And if it gets approved by admin you are allowed to post more articles. Be Sure that you submit your best original article for review.
It took me days to weed out the bad directories and identify the Top 23 article directories. I had spent hours in putting together the details for you and make your life easier.
